Filling out a Delay Repay claim for Thameslink earlier today got me thinking. My claim was for a 45 minute delay on the outward part of a journey for which the return ticket cost me the excruciatingly expensive sum of £5.30 - making my compensation entitlement a fraction under £1.33...
Some might say my claim is a waste of time, and maybe they're right. On the other hand, I'm a principled man and when I'm due compensation I think it's only right to claim it (unless something really terrible has happened) - if it isn't costing Govia anything to their customers provide the relatively poor service they're currently providing, and if nobody complained, what possible incentive is there for them to put a reasonable effort into improving?
So my thinking went as such: What is the smallest Delay Repay claim you've ever filed? Similarly, what's the smallest value Rail Travel Voucher you've seen? It's always quite interesting finding out just how inconvenienced one has to be before complaining...
