Minicab cheaper than the Tube

I know it's an extreme example (adjacent stations) but I know someone got a minicab this morning from White City Station to Shepherd's Bush Green (by the station) and was charged £3.50. The Tube cash fare for the 2-3 minutes journey from White City to Shepherd's Bush is £4

How many people will pay a cash tube fare for such a journey?

That's what I was thinking. Probably without much of a time penalty considering you have to go from entrance to platform too
