Milton Keynes - Liverpool via.....?

I've bought a ticket to travel back from Milton Keynes Central to Liverpool on 21/06/09.

The ticket i've bought is advanced, travelling on the 1938 Virgin SV service to Chester, changing there onto a Merseyrail service to Liverpool.

Just a thought....my seat reservation is MKC to Chester...but if it calls at Crewe, am I permitted to change there onto a London Midland service to Lime Street, as my final destination is Lpool S Prkwy, it'll be much quicker.

I personally don't think so, simply because the Super Voyager reservation ticket will state Chester as the changing point, which is probably what LM conductors would consult, to judge whether the ticket is valid on their train or not.

It is a +connections ticket though, which could swing in your favour.

The reason you've been routed via Chester is because there's engineering work that day and there are no LM trains north of Crewe and no Virgin trains north of Runcorn. It might be easier and cheaper to stick with your current ticket, especially if you don't like buses. (You could buy a Crewe-Liverpool South Parkway ticket and get on the LM bus at Crewe but that will be slow and painful...)
