Milngavie to Cambridge today: help please

Hi guys trying to get from Milngavie [MLN] to Cambridge [CBG] today

I was booked on the 1400 Edinburgh [EDB] to Peterborough [PBO]

I can't make head nor tail of east coasts amended time table is this train still running at the moment what are my chances of getting home any help would be good.

Can't ring east coast as in middle of nowhere in Scotland and am travelling with 6 kids youngest being 1!

I would suggest you get the first available train that you can catch from Milngavie to Edinburgh, and seek assistance at Edinburgh Waverley and get the first available train that you can board.

Seat reservations and ticket restrictions are lifted, and trains are running to an amended timetable, so you're no longer booked on any particular train.

Can you leave Milngavie earlier than you originally planned?

Thank you and sorry slightly panicky post as the lady folk in the house are loosing the plot cheers for the advice it was what I was thinking of doing but wanted to check if it was the right thing to do thanks again

The EC website is unavailable (apart from a page that sends you to National Rail, which is also unavailable) but yes you can travel earlier...

A statement on the East Coast website said: "Passengers with tickets for any cancelled services are advised to travel on the train immediately before or after their cancelled service.
"Passengers that decide not to travel on Monday 28 October may travel on Tuesday 29 October.
"All ticket restrictions and seat reservations are lifted.
"Passengers may use the following train operators on any reasonable route: East Midlands Trains; CrossCountry; First Capital Connect; Northern Rail; First TransPennine Express; First Hull Trains.

It says "advised to travel on the train immediately before or after..." but it says that restrictions and reservations are "lifted" which suggests it does not have to be the train immediately before or after. But if it was me I'd get the first train I could from Milngavie to Edinburgh - that takes 1.5 hrs in itself, and see how busy the next available London train was and what the chances of being both able and allowed to get on it are.

The 1400 is cancelled, and you may have to additionally change at York, so it'd be unreasonable not to let you on the first available train that has space to take you. That is likely to be the 1330 from Edinburgh, unless you can get there for the 1230, which should make the 1425 Newcastle to Peterborough, which should make your onward connection to Cambridge. I don't think you would get to Cambridge on time if you left on the 1330, based on the amended timetable.

Can't yet identify whether the 14:00 from Edinburgh will actually run. As suggested if you can get to Waverley station and ask the staff there... As a possibility there could be this journey plan. subject to change.

I'm not sure what help we can provide other than to say they will get you there but you will be delayed. What time can your lift get you to Milngavie station for?

On the1042 to Patrick then going to change to the Edinburgh train there as the guard has said it's limited stop so will be quicker than going to queens street so should make it to Edinburgh around 12:30 I hope

East Coast trains between Edinburgh and Peterborough are running, but with a top speed of 80mph south of Doncaster, (instead of the usual 125).

How did this go?

Assuming you caught the 1057 Milngavie - Edinburgh (1114 from Partick), that got to platform 8 at 1229, so you'd have done well to make the 1230 (which departed 1224) from platform 1. Both the 1230 and 1330 only went as far as York though.

Arrivals into Peterborough from the North are mostly just showing as "Delayed" so I guess, at the time of writing, you're probably not at Peterborough yet?

We got the 1430 from EDB to PBO then the 1859 PBO to CBG was a painless journey to be fair. staff at EDB were few and far between but the hst set had a first class coach instead of a standard class so was a bit of an added bonus. PBO was well staffed lots of announcements all in all a bit of a flap but a good journey cheers for all your help guys
