I had an enjoyable railway day on Tuesday on lines I'd never been on before, even though they are common passenger routes.
I went from York to Selby, Selby to Leeds, Leeds to Selby, Selby to Hull, spent a couple of hours in Hull and visited a super little model railway shop (53A Models) on Hessle Road, then caught the train back to Selby and then another back to York. Total cost about £32 (plus what I spent in the model shop).
Good value for a day out.
I was hoping the train from Selby to Leeds and back passed the South Milford Sidings but it never and I can't work out which route that line is on.
I could see the junction in the distance but we were on an upper level.
In photos of Milford Sidings I've seen reference to 'the Selby line' branching off to the right and as I used to frequent that area in the mid-80s for photos so I'd love to see it from the train. I can only think of a service to Castleford or Pontefract travelling those lines. The York/Sheffield line uses the adjacent tracks.
Any advice appreciated
cheers
