Many thanks, looks a bit better on my RailMiles pages now. Looked at Google Maps to start working out my Metro/tram mileages, lost patience with that straight away, so those zeros will be staying as they are for a while!

As for the Goodwick mileage, all I can say if one was to do Fishguard Harbour to Goodwick...What an insect

Try using the measuring tool on Google Earth, works well for short distances (and even longer ones if you have the patience!) but you will need to do a conversion if you want miles and chains. My preferred method is to measure in metric and multiply by 0.6214 which is the same method I use to work out continental distances.

As I say, to do it from Harbour would truely be an insect leap! Even Charing Cross (Glasgow) to Queen Street Low Level is longer than that (60 chains I believe)!

And extreme insect leaping would be Leicester Square to Covent Garden. On a new engine mileage for a 1973TS you'd score 13 chains!

West India Quay to Canary Wharf is 199 metres, so not much longer at just under 10 chains.

I can't get Rail Miles to give me the mileage for Crewe to Liverpool South Parkway, Liverpool South Parkway to Smethwick Galton Bridge, Smethick Galton Bridge to Stourbridge Junction, Stourbridge Junction to Worcester Foregate Street and Worcester Foregate Street to Birmingham New Street, any ideas on how to solve this problem?

On 7,695 miles for the year so far, without adding the Irish mileage. Probably still way down the table though!

I'll be lucky to clear 9,000 this year this reckon, still not bad considering I had a very low target this year!

That's good having the mileage you have there! Not really bad, you must have gone on the trains lots! I have been on a fair few journeys trying to fit them into my school studies etc and I only have about 4000 odd miles!

One of my biggest bashes of the year, The Epic Brussels Bash, back in January raked in several hundred miles in one trip to be fair. I've not been on the rails anywhere close to as much as I'd have liked this year, although at least I've broadened my horizons to railways on the continent now

Even so, bring on 2014, it's going to be epic
