Well, I'm off to a blazing start although I do need the mileage for Kings Cross St Pancras to London Victoria on the Victoria LUL line.

Let's just say I didn't realise I did some much mileage!

What are you using to track your mileage, out of curiosity?

KGX > VIC is 2m70c according to RailMiles :)

Well my year has started off properly now after my 11 odd miles on Sunday in the Bournemouth area. Today I got a Heart of Wessex Day Ranger and I am now sat on 479 miles. A good chunk of that was admittedly getting to Westbury and back from Plymouth but it all counts! A good little day out especially with advance tickets to westbury only costing £6.50!

I'm using Rail Miles for the National Network although I need to double check the exact route taken, didn't realise there were so many routes available between Leeds and Carlisle or Peterborough and Carlisle for example but using Quail to double check my LUL mileage.

My next trip works out at over 550 miles which is about 5 miles short of Peterborough to Inverness via Aberdeen!

If all goes to plan I will still be ahead of you though! Mwahaha.

I'll be doing Chelmsford to Penzance and back again in a couple of weeks time on the sleeper out of Paddington, that'll add some miles!

Planning a Cherry Tree-Preston-Crewe-Euston-(taxi)-Victoria-Margate (via Dartford and Chatham) and return (as outward) this weekend, roughly 570 miles... looking gooooooooooood!

Got my first 205 miles 73 chains yesterday. I'm going to try and record my underground mileage this year so expect to be a little over 20k by the end of the year.

Greetings from sunny (and cold!) Switzerland :D

I have already started, probably sooner than most as I was on the road here at 07:03 on the 1st, which would make it 06:03 in the UK. You will have to wait for my first offering as I always work everything out after returning home.

Already scored plenty of locos including last passenger Re4/4, last SOB 446, down to one Re460 and the only mainline loco on the Appenzellerbahnen.

I'll give it a go again, but I somehow doubt I'll reach even 5,000 this time. Since my holiday in August/September I've been super-slow, and also, um, notably absent from here  I suspect a certain somebody from Trowbridge will be beat me again.

Current total? Well, if you consider that until yesterday I hadn't even left the house, and even then I only went to the local Iceland store to buy a few bits and also Boots for some Paracetamol...

I hope to do better then my 24 miles last year (though saying that I only did 2 miles by bus and 1500 by car (300 of which in one trip) oh and 4 miles by boat!. Probably walked a few hundred miles too! Most of the things I need are in walking distance anyway (shops 5 mins - work 10 mins etc)

Dunno about that, I've only 347 miles for 2011 so far and no other trips planned for a while (bit too skint to do so until next week really). Working 4 days a week (including both days of the weekend) is putting a stop to me doing much so far this year. Still, grand plans already being formed for the rest of the year, including some bashing on foreign shores!

Whoops, missed out my final move on Monday from Bath to Trowbridge (thanks heart-of-wessex for pointing that out), so I'm actually on 360 miles. 9,630 to go for the year then!

Having worked it out fully for Saturday, I think that by the end of Saturday I will have 656mi, or 655mi 42ch... I'm not being complacent though. Can't wait to bring on the railtours in February :D

for anyone wondering, this week's planned journey is 584mi 06ch :D

74 miles (4 return trips behind various 37s at Bo'ness and the train home)

As long as you weren't the TI on any of those trips we'll let you off ;)

I'm in at 49 on a return trip to London yesterday.

But we shall see because I will be pulling myself right up the table tomorrow

Tomorrow is where my challenge officially starts! Not that it hasn't started already but you get what I mean!

What you got planned? If all goes well tomorrow, I should be in the Top 5 with over 600 miles.

am still at 0 for train, 78 miles by car (most of that in a scenic tour of some of the remoter parts of Devon yesterday), 5 miles by bike and ~20 miles on foot

Am looking into a rail trip in the next couple of months.

About 10 miles under today what I had expected today, still very good none the less (see the Sig for details!).

Had my first journey of the year on BR services today - until then it had all been Tube mileage. Liv St - Stratford on NXEA and Stratford - Barking; Barking - Liv St on c2c's diverted trains.

Switzerland all worked out now, got a few more miles in than I anticipated :o Not the easiest country to rack up miles (or kms) in, especially when track bashing some of the smaller operations.
