Just update my details with all my mileages from November and this month so far. Can I suggest, given that the end of the year is now only 3 weeks away, that everyone else who has taken part does the same!

Just done a partial update, but still need to sort out some foreign mileage from last month - looking to get 50,000 miles this year for the first time in a few years

Mind you, having a 60+ mile round journey to work goes a fair way as well.

I do this route pretty much every week, it's 31m 43ch. I tend to just round a return trip down to 63m.

I've almost finished for the year now. Just a trip to/from Herefordshire on Christmas Eve (unknown return date at the moment, but no doubt before Dec 31st), can't afford to do any other cranking in the meantime 
A small trip yesterday takes me to 13,515 miles for the year. Not a bad total, considering I've hardly gone out in the second part of the year. 2011 looks to be fairly promising, but I may have to cancel my first trip of the year due to the weather
Been an interesting year, although I've little interest in the current motive power running in my area, so 2011 could be quite different!

MY last trip of the year will be form Wigan to Mancheste on New Years Eve should put me up to arround 23/34 thousand MIles or so.

Not so keen on pendalinos myself but id rather b one of them than a 175 and when the trains are a sbad as they where running on Saturday you gratfull of any kind of train.

I have just added what is likely to be a final update as, unless I get a spare 5 minutes tomorrow, I am unlikely to be on here again for a week and a half.
However.....taking into account a rough estimate of remaining planned trips this year, my final total should be around 51,620 miles.

Final update of the year. It's gone by far too quickly!
13,705 miles and 24 chains for me this year. 10,000 miles for the target, way past that! Not sure how good 2011 will be, hopefully it'll be just as excellent as this year. Setting a provisional target of 10,000 miles for 2011, I can't see if I beat it and if so, by how much!

Well I finished the year on 15141. I didn't start recording until May though so my target next year is going to be 20,000! Have a couple of trips lined up for the first few months including a FOSW and FONW so should get a good start.

Ive been looking at the milage competition and surely not all of them are honest.
With numbers reaching 51215 for Leisure/Commuting it seems quite precise and high.

In response to to the query in general - we don't know! How are we mean't to tell the honest from the dishonest!?
The preciseness is easy as people record their mileage on spreadsheets which give a accurate number = using the mileage calculator to get the precise details...

Indeed - it's not like we are offering a prize of an ALR to the winner or anything! I know my mileages are accurate (or will be when I get home and add on all my recent journeys) and I know several of the other people near the top and have no reason to doubt them. I can provide breakdowns month by month and if anyone wants to inspect my moves books they are more than welcome to! Similarly others have Railmiles accounts which can be looked at too. The reason people's mileages are precise is because they record them accurately, rather than just estimating X-Y is 'about 100 miles'.
