There's nothing to hate about admitting your true feelings towards Pendolinos...

If only everyone else would take a leaf out of your book ;)

*And a pink pig just flew in the sky*

I hate to admit it, but cause I'm always travelling on Pendos, I have grown strangely attatched to them.

Merr, they're swanky looking things. Soooooo nice to go on them in First Class...:p8-)

As for your previous comment in reply to me, well I was thinking of doing things like Tiverton Parkway - Cheltenham and vice versa all day on a FoSS rover...Some serious mileage there and each way done in less than 90 minutes. Done a few times in one day and voila! :p

87015: Some serious mileage getting on 323s! How on Earth did you manage that?

Still getting the bean counter ticking over my HST mileages for the year. Suffice to say that they form over half of the accumlated mileage!

Why not just do Exeter, more choice of trains from there and also make the HST 2o minutes in front of the Voyager to Taunton ;)

Didn't think you were a big fan Sir, obviously having a mileahe year on them this time round then, will I be seeing you at Swanage for 275?
Naah they are pretty high priority, lots of scratching recently aswell.
Not at Swanage, doing the Moors instead as want to have 25278 to Whitby :p

Oh Righty, havn't decided yet, depends what 275 is doing, if it's another too many locos for the diagrams and I can only get 1 trip in on 275 then I will probably wait till it gets a running day somewhere and do the Moors as I wouldn't mind that rat mainline and a blast on 50027, don't rate 37350 though so not desperate about doing that on everything it does.

What is your 321 mileage, these leaps to Berkswell must be clocking some serious mileage up for the year now, all in the motor coach I presume?

Just for Mr 87015, had a quick tot up of my 321 milage this year and it currently stands at just shy of 1,500. Not bad eh?

My mileage just went down :(

Just realised that CORE sent me to Long Preston instead of Preston Lancs on one of my journeys, giving me more miles than it should have been.

EDIT: Seems I made the same mistake from Edinburgh to Preston, meaning that I actually gained miles! So yeah. I'm roughly where I was before anyway :p

neither do I giz, I use my quail maps to add up mileages.
Time consuming but worth it as they are far more accurate

A bit of an update, I have now worked out all my UK mileages up to the end of March (with the exception of HS1 from St Pancras). Latest total is 7,350 miles, none of which was on Pendolinos <( (These days I go for quality over quantity)

I will be plugging away at the Swiss distances and April in between sorting out several hundred pictures from the last month for our site, will keep you all posted.

I only travelled about 30 miles on April :( (Already added to the total BTW, so don't bother updating it)

Well, it's a new month, and a lovely May Day up here. Fantastic weather to go off for a little bash. Shame, then, I didn't get up as early as anticipated this morning and thus wasted my chance at going out for a few hours! <(

87015: Fair dos then re: 323s. I'd imagine it would be easy to notch up quite a few in the course of a few months like that! I'm much in the same boat though when it comes to 175s. I've done hundreds of miles on them thus far this year but I really haven't been trying! Even a simple out-and-back from Hereford to Newport can land you roughly 87 miles on 175s...

37412: FoSS rovers are not valid to Exeter (Tiverton Parkway still being the southerly limit IIRC). Besides, the one move I have planned on said rover on 23rd May involves a HST from Cheltenham to Tiverton Parkway with a nice +8 on a Voyager back up. 1522 off Cheltenham (0900 GLC - PNZ <D) to Tiverton arriving 1728, 1737 back from TVP to Cheltenham arriving 1910 in time for another Voyager back down shortly after...But your point about going beyond Tiverton is a good reminder for me, since fares down there seem cheaper than I thought they'd be.

EDIT: 23rd May doesn't see a HST on 0900 GLC - PNZ. Buggers. There are a couple of HST moves on AXC I plan to do that day though.

A +8 relying on FGW, you'll be lucky

Thought an Foss was out of Exeter, done that on one loads of times.

Been corrected by Techniquest, just saying I didn't know before and had never had any problems.

I personally thought it was valid to Exeter as well to begin with, but I found a leaflet from FGW on rovers last year and it confirmed it to be as far as Tiverton.

Also, that +8 is off one AXC service and straight onto another :p

Made a +2 once there! Was bloody lucky though.

Just quickly worked out my rather poor effort. 1375 miles 42 chains.

Although considering the original post doesn't say anything about trains, I guess I could add another 7000 miles or so from my car
