Please add 430.56 miles to my 2008 mileage total so far, resulting in my new mileage being 4258.50 miles.... tied with JST! :p :o

I'm so thankful that I did the Motherwell-Glasgow extension on my Super Voyager/Pendolino back, despite the inward connection officially arriving 2 minutes after the return Pendo.

I know about the slack, but checked on the train database, and realised that we would arrive Glasgow at 15:02 at the earliest.... good job the late running NXEC caused my Super Voyager to arrive in 11, with Pendo from 10, instead of 3 and 6 respectively...

JST, do you know the precise number of mileage you've covered, to 2d.p?

Can I join in please :D, this is just the proverbial kick up the backside I need to sort out my moves for 2008.

Total so far is 4,282.61 miles (decimal), but that is only up to the end of March and excludes a trip to Scotland (can't find my miles & chains book at the mo') and a trip to Switzerland (whole lot needs converting into miles).

Watch out when I get to the end of April, just been all the way from Ferrol in the West of Spain to Bilbao (Eastern Spain), back to León (roughly in the middle) then all the way back to St Pancras by rail, might take a bit of time to work out, but the narrow gauge element alone will be over 900 miles.

List in the first post is now updated!

Looking good people! 20 of us at it now :D

I've been knocked down a bit though :( Although, I've got a couple hundred miles to add when I've figured it out.

Oh, also, if you want your mileage updating, it'd be great if you could say what your current mileage is, rather than to add however many miles. As mods have been updating this too, it could get a little confusing. Only one person has done this so far, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Cheeeeers :p

Surely needs to be some form of quality indicy, 1 mile on most preserved lines is far better than 1000 on some plastic junk on the 'real' railway

*shrugs* I don't count tube mileage, but I guess it doesn't matter THAT much.

How many people here include light railway/tram/tube mileage?

Meh, fair enough. If you wish to include tube mileage, then go ahead. It doesn't matter either way. I don't.

Not the only one then.

I include Tube/DLR/tram moves in my moves book, but I don't have mileage figures for them. Besides, doing mileage on the DLR? That would take decades...not to mention how boring doing so on the tube, DLR or trams would be!

87015: Depends what traction you get on a preserved line. 1 mile on, say, the SDR might be more enjoyable than the same mile on the mainline, but if you did said mile on 122500...

This mileage competition is making me want to get out and about more than I am at the moment. Which is awesome, exactly the motivation I need. Next week, I shall be out again for three days and I expect my mileage to go over 6,000 miles by the end of May 12th!

Jim: I would love to see your moves book, to have gotten such mileage already this year is nothing short of surprising (to me).

And I see now I'm in 7th place! Not bad!

Well, I'm knocked back down to 5th place.

Nice to see someone beating Jim though :p

Well, if you start getting into complicated rules where locos or preserved lines count as more miles, then it's not really mileage anymore. Mileage is mileage. A journey doesn't decide that it's now twice as long just because it has a 37 on it.

But yes, at least half of my mileage to to and from London on Pendos  :p

ROFL!

I'm very happy to see that i appear to be having a positive influence on your attitude towards our lovely Super Voyagers, and Pendolinos :-P

Travel First Class, and make it even more like me by the second!

Edit: Since when has JST's 4258 miles been worth more than my 4258 miles... Shouldn't the list state =12 for me and JST, and not 12 & 13?

I hate to admit it, but cause I'm always travelling on Pendos, I have grown strangely attatched to them.
