Anyone got any ideas how to work out Swiss mileage

Continental Miles & Chains (Kilometre by Kilometre) by Stuart Clarke, Switzerland is Volume 2. Alternatively the Schweers & Wall Eisenbahnatlas for Switzerland.

If you only want a couple of distances I can look them up for you, or you can contact Stuart to see if he has any copies of his Swiss book still available (cover price £3).

My mileage this year (includes 4 railtours, and a return trip between Bristol Parkway and Temple Meads) is 2045.94 miles.

Not as good as in the past

Add another 13.66 miles (13.65 miles D9000 and 67029, 0.01 miles 66050 (it all counts))

2059.60 miles now.

It drew forward on the second Knottingley tour on Saturday to allow D9000 to attach to the other end.

Ah right. Not sure if I'd count it at first (I prefer to do at least 1/4 mile on any stock at the minimum), but if it powered the train at all then I'd say it's valid. Not a lot of mileage, naturally, but countable!

Hi all,

Finally got my mileage up to date now after a 4-day stint recent, my mileage for the year is now 13,927. If this could be added I'd appreciate it.

I've not moved up a place, I'm not happy. Catching up now jacknottm!

True, try going abroad for some dodgy shunt moves - I have managed to get well over a mile behind one Austrian class 2067 without going more that a couple of hundred metres from the platform ends :grin:

I would agree, it counts. Back in 1991, I had 58048 on a pull-back at Coalville - a distance of 0.38 (or 30 chains for those who have not gone decimal), several people didn't count it, but it went in my book!

Its one for the 'Spurious Claims Committee' (which I am more than willing to set up if it doesn't already exist). I know one guy that claims locos once the brakes are tested, as the train moves a matter of inches.
