Milan - Lyon (EC & TGV)

Hi,

I'm looking to travel from Milan to Lyon next summer and I am wondering

1) What will the Eurocity (EC 32 0825 Milan - Geneva 1218) be like in standard and first class? Does anyone know what kind of stock it will be?

2) What kind of TGV will be on the Geneva - Lyon leg? Will it be one of the refurbished ones?

AFAIK all the Switzerland / Italy EC services are operated by a fairly new fleet of jointly owned pendolino junk apart from one out and back which starts at Zurich so will be going the opposite way to you.

My family has had a house near Geneva for 55 years this really is my territory!

Milano - Geneve is now ETR610 pendolinos. This really riles me because despite the sinuous route along part of lake Geneve tilting trains actually don't do the overall journey that much quicker (about 10 mins in some cases) than the loco hauled trains did.

However You can avoid the plastic hell for half the trip by alighting at Domodossola and taking a Domodossla – Brig local – formed of venerable and very popular Re4/4II electric and (refurbished) traditional Swiss light weight coaches. Change at Brig into a Brig – Geneve IR train - loco hauled. They are booked for haulage by Class 460 but Re4/4II sometime substitute)

TGVs from Geneva to Paris are either original Sud-Est units (now approaching retirement!) or Duplex double deckers.
