Not confirmed officially if it was the mill but eyewitnesses suggest the massive fire in town tonight to the North of Oakham Station was the old Provender Mill built in 1902 as one of 4 for the Midland to supply feed to all the railways horses and was the biggest and last to close as late as 1954

Big fire as 8 pumps plus a number of specialist units and NWR Emergency response all in attendance
Shame if it has been destroyed after all these years standing next to the line will know first light

Looks like the fire was contained to the industrial buildings around the old stores and the main 4 storey store is still standing It took 8 pumps and a couple of technical units though
