hi folks,

Having seen the prices of fares on the GCR Steam Railway gala this weekend (£22 - with no short-trip tickets), I was searching around for another Midlands option to take my dad to - and spotted on the MRC web-site a diesel event on the same weekend - any further news of this anyone?

cheers,

Keith

Well they certainly don't want people to know about it! The MRC website mentions "Diesel Event" in a couple of places but there's no further information, that I can find, anywhere on the site.

The Peak Locomotive Association (http://www.greatgable.co.uk) informs that 45 041 and D182 will be representing their fleet - but D4 is out of traffic. The Class 40 Appeal site states that "There is no booked work for any of our locomotives at this time".

Personally, I'd give it a swerve and go to the Severn Valley Railway diesel gala (http://www.svr.co.uk/SpecialEvents.aspx) instead!

Cheers Nimbus - yes, there's not a lot of information on the MRC site, and nothing listed on Preserved Diesels forum either. I'm spending the day (solo) at the SVR the day before (fantastic), so was looking around for events on the Sunday specifically. If the SVR diesel gala had continued into Sunday I'd have been there for a second helping!

all the best,

Keith
