As described in title, follow above link. Closing date 12 October, £17,740 starting wage.

I see these Trams everyday in my job and always wonder what it would be like working for Midland Metro as looks a good job.

Strangely looks like a dual role driving and also selling tickets. Are there any Midland Metro Tram Drivers on here that could shed some light on the role and responsibilities. I know routes are between Grand Central and Wolverhampton. What’s the pay scale increase as can’t find anywhere what pay is once fully qualified and how long training takes etc.

I’m considering applying but its a leap into unknown from my current job as a Conductor working for a local TOC. Is it worth the leap of faith?

I applied for this the last time round a couple of months back. Like you I am a guard for a local TOC and I asked Midland Metro what the pay would be after training and it is well below what you earn as a conductor, at about £21000 Which I thought wrong as it's still should be considered a safety critical role. I would still consider it if the pay was better, especially as the network has massive expansion planned for the future, maybe then the pay would go up and be similar to other team networks such as the Manchester Metro Link where drivers I believe earn close to £30000

Wow that is low, I was expecting around the Manchester Metro Tram wages. Really seems low for what they do. Do you know if you solely drive or do you dual role as advert states?

Not a clue. I got invited to the assessments at Wednesbury but because of the drop in wage I requested to be taken out of the application process, it was a shame because I think it would be a great job but just couldn't afford the pay cut. Had I gone further along the application process I would have made some enquiries as to how much time is spent driving compared to conducting.
