A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
This has featured on some recent threads as part of a projected route to Greenfield then on to Leeds. It was famous for its 1 in 27 incline and in the late 1950's, I travelled on one of the few early morning trains from Manchester which still went that way...the majority going via Hollinwood. Has anyone any reminiscences of this line with such a very steep incline.

I live 5 minutes away from the junction, and the former Middleton railway station is on my road.
last month i took my dog walking along the former oldham branch, and now at the end is a housing estate.
its a shame, lots of pictures on google of the old junction.
