Next week will be using the 06.56 service from Middlesbrough to Carlisle, and back again on the same day. However I will also be using a Tyne and Tees Day Rover (which is valid up until Hexham, after 08.45) for later on in the day. Question is, what is the cheapest ticket that I can get to get me from Middlesbrough to Carlisle and back to Hexham, if there is one cheaper than £15.90 with a YP SOR railcard?

Probably none, given tge £12 minimum Y-P fare before 10:00 - unless you are going on:
- A Saturday;
- A Sunday;
- A Bank Holiday;
- Any day in July/August;

Or unless you purchase an Advance ticket (No minimum fare apples) or a ranger/rover that is valid that early to which no minimum fare applies.

So, in short, not likely

Depending on what journey you're doing later on with the Tyne and Tees, you could combine a Middlesborough > Sunderland anytime day return (£9.80) and a Hadrian's Wall Day Ranger (no time restrictions) for £12.55. The HWDR ticket is valid between Hexham and Sunderland, so as I say it depends upon your later travel plans.

Thought there wouldn't be. Hadrian's Wall ticket would normally be fine but planning on going to Morpeth and Darlington on the same day.
