Mid Norfolk gala shots

Did a 2 day visit to the MNR for the gala this weekend. Driving over in horrible rain (via RAF Mildenhall for a USAF BBJ as you do) I feared the omens for photography were not good. Happily the weather improved and Sunday morning was pretty much perfect!

Can Northolt take full weight C-17's ?? I thought it had a small runway, the Chinooks are they the RAF's and also I hear his Sea Kings are getting replaced by Merlins.

First thing it was absolutely gorgeous! The clouds rolled in mid morning but there were enough breaks to get some shots done. Well worth the looonnng drive over

BTW, as for Northolt and C17s - they don't need much runway at all - specifically designed for landing on small airports in the back end of beyond!

Yes, Northolt can handle a heavy C17, uses 1500ft (or there abouts) of runway, even with a helo on board!

Chinooks are from the US Army and I haven't heard anything about Sea Kings being replaced with Merlins...

Oh So they are American Chinooks I saw on the news his VH-60N and his Air force one 747-200 (I think ) funny how are Air force one is either a BA 777 or BA 747-400

A heavily modified Boeing 747-200, which has been designated as a VC-25 and has a whole host of features, such as:
-Air to Air refuelling capability
-Electronic warfare suite(on the upper deck, behind the cockpit)
-Conference rooms with a direct line back to the White House, and many more...
