So over the last week or so I have been following the progress of the engineers trains heading to Goonbarrow Junction from Westbury for the mid Cornwall metro work as well as light engines from Exeter off the clay work.
My observations are that there seems to be a random lottery of trains that get put in Lostwithiel loop, if we take this weeks 6C40/41 it had ran around 2 hours early to Lostiwthiel then held to time, contrast with todays 6C42 that passed through Lostiwthiel non stop also the same for all moves last week, but also todays 0C53 only going as far as St Blazey was held for around 30 mins with nothing near behind and wouldn't conflict with the Newquay Branch.
I can't see the logic as to why this is the case, could the signaller be paranoid that the movements in question could conflict with the Newquay service? Any answers very gratefully received as can't figure this out!
