Micklefield Station shut on recent Sundays?

Why has Micklefield been shut on recent Sundays when the line has remained open?

Was that definitely the case? Seemed to be train services yesterday from Micklefield to Leeds and Selby (and some rail replacement buses to York).

Perhaps the line was just shut between York and Micklefield? That would make sense.

Interestingly, the early 0831 train service from Micklefield to York got through (and the 0842 arrival from York). Thereafter seems to have been rail replacement buses.

The railway is two tracks from Church Fenton to Colton South Jn due to engineering works. It's possible that trains have been retimed to fit accordingly, and Micklefield is a sacrificial station to cut out for slightly retimed services to York?

York serves where running to Selby and turning there with York passengers on rrb to and from York. Tpe and cross country where running to York from what I saw, maybe just capacity passing the engineering works?

Seems a bit odd they bussed all the way to York though, would have thought they might have found a connecting Train at Church Fenton or along there.

It's due to the Transpennine Route Upgrade related two track railway south of York. Hence not enough capacity for all services to run (particularly due to the single lead ladders at Church Fenton and Holgate Jn). IIRC that continues every Sunday for the remainder of the December timetable.

Whilst you could bus to Church Fenton, most people would prefer a single change option. Church Fenton's narrow approach road and small car park also isn't suitable for anything more than minibuses, but most of these kinds of jobs end up being done by coaches.
