The conversation will be shown later in the year as part of the BBC’s Great Continental Railway Journeys, the show is based on Michael Portillo’s 1913 copy of Bradshaw’s Continental Railway Guide. In 1913, George Bradshaw travelled by rail from the north coast of Spain to Algeciras and then, having spent a day on the Rock, he included a chapter on Gibraltar in his Railway Guide."

Planning to do the journey from Algeciras (or more likely San Roque) to Ronda next time I am in Gib (Sept). Been told it is a wonderful journey

I'm guessing Portillo took the traditional ferry between Gibraltar and Algeciras (opposed to the bus from the Spanish side of the border) and included a call at Ronda (the traditional Summer destination for the Brits based in Gibraltar.)

Pretty certain the ferry isn't running anymore....

In that case he'll just magically transfer from Algeciras to Ronda, in the same way in Ireland he alighted at Mallow and the next minute was shown at Blarney Castle.

On second thoughts they might show him catching/alighting a bus in La Linea. Just remembered an operator in the area is called Portillos.
