I've been reading other's trip reports and thought I would share mine.
Yesterday, I travelled from Chesterfield to Liverpool Lime Street with East Midlands Trains. My rail journey began on the platform at CHD with the reassurance from announcer Anne that the train would be formed of four coaches.
I boarded what was a very well kept Class 158, with stylish Grammer Seating and PIS displays. The train accelerated very well to get us up to a top speed of 90 miles per hour. The Revenue Protection Officers entered our carriage at around Whittington Moor, complete with body cameras and all the other such gadgets that besuit an RPO.
Then we arrived in to Sheffield. Naturally, I changed seats for the reverse in dorection. After a blow on the whistle and a "stand back" heard faintly from the platorm staff, the train proceeded towards the North West.
Then arrived the Rail Gourmet Snacks On Tracks Trolley. I am not a coffee drinker, but the aroma of the Lavazza Prontissimo was most tempting. Alas, I was on the Rijoja already. I asked the professional host for some popcorn, I thought I had better buy some water to cure any hangovers, so I was handed a bottle of Buxton's finest. Then, I spotted the freshly-baked muffins. I couldn't resist, the host offered me a choice of blueberry or lemon. I opted for blueberry. All of this came to just £5.20! As we powered through the hope valley, with crisp winter frost glistening on the fields, I sampled said muffin. It was absolutely delicious! The ingredients ised were of the best quality and expertly baked. Then the countryside gave way to the urban landscape of Manchester. Our train seemed to overwhelm the through platform at Piccadilly, amid the rumadging of suitcases by alighting passengers.
From there, we pressed on through Birchwood and Warrington Central. Then I sampled the Proper Popcorn, bought earlier from the at seat service by the Customer Host. It was the best popcorn I have ever tasted! The quality of stock on the trolley amazed me.
Then we arrived through the tunnel in to Lime Street station. The bustle was quite a contrast to the relatively sleepy origin of Chesterfield. After such pleasant journey, I was ready to explore the city of Liverpool.
All in all, it was a great trip, I would definitely reccomend.
