In 1880 Beyer Peacock sold three of the Metro B class 4-4-0T locomotives to the SER, possibly for use on the line from New Cross to Shoreditch, or perhaps the line through Ludgate to the west or north. In 1883 the locomotives were sold to the Metropolitan Railway where they became numbers 57-59. My questions are, did they have SER numbers for those 3 years and if so what were they? Also, what were they used for on the SER? Just trying to tie up a few loose ends on the hundreds of steam locomotives which worked below London between the 1860s and the 1960s. Most are well documented but a few early ones are proving elusive.

Beyer, Peacock 1941-1943 (built 5/1880) were sent new to the SER as its 299-301, becoming Met 57-59 in 11/1883. BP 1937-1940 (4/1880) and 1944-1946 (6/1880) went direct to the Met. as 50-53 and 54-56. (Source: Locomotives Illustrated 65, Rowledge, Ian Allan, 1989.)

EDIT: They were used between Tonbridge and Maidstone.
