Metrolink Woodlands Road propsed closure

GMPTE apparently going to close the Woodlands Road stop and replace it with another one (Info here.

Would have thought that they would have planned the route better in order to take into account the high likelihood of further expansion and/or more services running?

Woodlands road was the original heavy rail station, built in 1913 (i.e. after the line) to try and compete with suburban tram services. It really suffers from the fact its ramped on stilts on a viaduct in back streets not off a main road, its a long 20 minute walk to get from one platform to the other as well as theirs no under or over pass.
