Anyone done the process recently?
This is very very quick for metrolink...
I heard the assessments are back at queens road now rather than old Trafford

Working under pressure
Communication with passengers and control
Concentration
Setting standards
Willing to learn

Looking back at previous assessment days,about 30 are invited and only 5 to 6 candidates get through to the interview.Most of them make a hash of the SCAAT test due to not following simple instructions.
My advice would be to read this forum and practice the tests.If you do this then you will be fine.
Do a little bit of reading about the company for example

The current expansion program
The size of our network

None of the assessments are difficult if you prepare correctly.
The Job is for you if you really want it.

Regarding the depot drive - I did mine at QRD in May, and we had special dispensation to travel on the day at up to 20mph (one of the lines is authorised for it). Despite the short length of the sidings, you will easily make it as well! If the assessment is to be at Trafford, there is a blanket 5mph limit there.

If you get to the drive, ensure you listen to the trainers who are looking after you - whilst the drive isn't a test as such, they are looking at how you pick things up and adapt to instructions, and how you approach driving a tram for the first time.

There may be some internal applicants, however they are subject to exactly the same assessment process as externals so for many tests they will have no advantage.

As beavercreek says, preparation is key, along with safety.

Do you know if there's a maths test by any chance? I don't imagine there will be as there's no money handling involved, but you never know!

cheers, slightly worrying as maths has never been my strong point!

Its just the shapes according to the lady from HR that I spoke to.

For what its worth there was no maths or english test in the previous assessment - but that isn't to say there won't be as the previous assessments were done over two days so they may change the format slightly!

Route knowledge is going well, beavercreek - a bit too warm to be in the classrooms at the moment though!

Well I get the impression that this assessment would have been over 2 days if it wasn't for the tight deadlines!

English tests I can cope with, maths less so!

Yeah I was quite surprised that the letter didn't mention which tests or have any practise material with it!

Definitely no dot test, I asked specifically whether it was a GB test or a SCAAT test and was told just the SCAAT.

Certain plans were afoot to add Maths and English to the Inspector's assessments, but not to Drivers. First I heard about Drivers being tested for those was on here, so may not be true.

Fair enough, but it was the lady from HR who initially told me! She went off to check with her superiors too!

If you saw my duty card tomorrow and the routes I'm driving you would not wish to be in my position.
But once the air con is on and the seat is adjusted then I suppose there could be worse places to be.

How often do you change over because you often see drivers changing at Trafford bar and old Trafford. I assume that the ones changing at old Trafford are coming off shift? And at Trafford bar just changing routes?
