I can't find any mention of the cost on the Metrolink website, so I rang customer services who told me it was £4.50. I did find an old closed thread which stated that the cost was actually lower if bought at a suburban stop rather than the city centre - is this still the case?

Cheaper at some selected Eccles line stations, not all suburban ones. I think it's the smaller halts just before Eccles that do them.

They don't publish the price on the website for this reason. The Eccles line pricing is mainly about stimulating off-peak demand - I suspect that perhaps the new Oldham line has slightly reduced pricing as well. Still, it's not a policy I've ever seen before on my travels home and abroad.

Yes the price was standardised this year.

I might as well ask whilst we're on the general same subject, is break of journey permitted on an off-Peak Day Single / Return on Metrolink so long as the 90 minute limit for the out rule is adhered to?

Yes you can break a single journey but have to complete it within 90 minutes (its mostly to allow for changing trams to get to your destination). on the return you pretty much have the rest of the day and can break wherever you want. Since theres so many possible stops for changing tram ive never seen them be picky over where or how you break journey though they will pick you up if your in a zone that isnt on the route.
