Metro-style next train indicator at Clapham Junction

The only problem that I find with these indicators is that the train could be held at the signal outside the station for 10 minutes, but the indicator will just show '1 minute' away for all of that period because it knows that's how long it will take to do the journey from signal to platform.

I have no idea what the solution to this problem is though.

Presumably to simply display "Delayed" like (I assume?) would have happened on the old indicators had a train stayed in one place for some time?

Agreed they use same system on tube trains. You never know if a service is running late - it's the gaps between them that matters to the public.

For very frequent services that's absolutely correct. If there's been a gap in service at a busy time, I'll be checking when the next 2-3 trains are and waiting for one of them. Yes, it means a further delay to my journey but one that is likely to be far more comfortable.
