Just a thought that because Met 1 has recently been running on the underground, would it be classed as mainline fitted, or was that just an exception?

Thanks

I doubt Met No. 1 is mainline registered.

London Underground has its own set of safety standards to follow, one requirement being tripcocks (although I'm not sure if Met 1 itself has these fitted). For Network Rail lines, different safety systems would be needed (such as AWS and TPWS).

Something of interest; electric locomotive Sarah Siddons has worked on BR metals in the past with the green 4-SUB unit (evidence here). Does anyone know if this means it has AWS installed, or was an exception made for it? Would such a thing be acceptable on today's railway?

EDIT: Pictures of other tours on BR worked by Sarah Siddons

Met No1 has been overhauled to mainline standards (MT276?) but that is almost certainly to satisfy LU - i've certainly seen no suggestion of any OTMR/TPWS fitment etc. She does have a tripcock however, something she's presumably had since construction.
