Yes - good to see the loop line back in action. A pity there was a points failure at West Kirby early this morning, but the band playing in Moorfields together with the free cup cake certainly went down well.

This is the end of it for the Wirral line. There is a weekend closure of the Hunts Cross section of the Northern line planned for September sometime.

I think "fit for another 40 years" was in the press release somewhere.
Somebody else will have to check the accuracy of that statement...

Wirral line fully reopened today .

Great that this is now finally completed and well done to all concerned.

Although I generally take the bus to work, the loop line work had a knock-on effect on local buses.

With the Wirral Line work completed and Boundary Road in New Ferry finally re-opened last week (it was still closed due to the gas blast), yesterday was the first day this year my local bus services finally seemed back to normal again.

It looks like they are doing some substation / power supply works at Aintree station - they have been there a few weeks now.

Main thing I noticed is the rails have now been partly removed leading to the excursion platforms, last used in 1987, I believe.
