After the Antics I had with using a Saveaway on a Metrocard last year, (see post #37), I was reluctant to do it again, but yesterday (Saturday 2nd May) I thought I'd give it another go as a Saveaway "should be" the best tool for my Transport requirements that day, so I purchased one at Formby Station and had it added to my Metrocard.
Tapped in at Formby (which I failed to do last time), then tapped Out at Liverpool Central ticket barrier, all good so far.
Walked to Liverpool Lime Street to Catch a Northern Rail service to West Allerton due to depart from Platform 8, so no Physical Ticket barrier but there was a card reader. Tapped it anyway to find it was not valid (probably a different TOC). As the Saveaway was supposedly valid for the service I boarded it anyway. Ticket was not inspected so I have no idea what would have happened if it was (if anybody knows please let me know so that I know what to expect if I do this again).
I get off at West Allerton, (a 4 platform station, no Ticket validators, or even a departure board, just automated announcements at short notice

, leaving you having to sprint up the steps and over the footbridge if you get it wrong, not easy at my age

. Sorry, that's off topic for this thread.).
I later re-board a train at West Allerton (correct platform

) and Travel to Liverpool South Parkway (Its the City Line so should be covered by Saveaway, again no Ticket inspection) and as I approach the Open Ticket barrier on the exit from Platforms 1-4, I chose to Tap and it shows 'All OK'. traversed the concourse to the Ticket barrier for Platforms 5-6 for Merseyrail Services, I tap and it is refused. I explain to the person manning the barriers and he lets me through 'on Trust' as I had a Saveaway so I tapped on the other barrier. (I am assuming the Card readers cannot distinguish between the various TOCs serving the platforms).
I board the Merseyrail Service from Liv South Parkway as far as Aigburth were I Tap Out (all appears OK, no issues here).
I later board an Arriva bus to travel to Liverpool City Centre (No Issues, Saveaway accepted by card reader on the bus).
I then Tap In at the barrier at Liverpool Central and Travel back to Formby where I Tap Out (No Issues here either).
Today I check my Metro-Smart account to see how "they" think my journey went, and I find 2 missed Taps and the supposed "incorrect" journeys autocompleted.
To me it looks Like they have treated my Tap at Liv S'Parkway as a Tap out, so autocompleted a Tap In from Liverpool Central based on a previous Tapout there, and my Tap out at Aigburth as a Tap In and autocompleted to Liverpool Central based on my later Tap In. As the system has got the Tap In/out information wrong I can not correct this myself, if I try it reports an error. I've now submitted a form for the Merseyrail customer service team to have it corrected, and I awaiting a response.
Can anybody tell me where/if I went wrong, and how I should have conducted this journey, using the services used?
