My sister is a regular commuter on Merseyrail. What with major engineering works on the Northern line coupled with the terrible weather she commented

Merseyrail have done a stirling job this week, last night must have been hell. Very well organized re the bus replacement. Lots of staff everywhere to give assistance.

Thought I'd put that out there.

Nice to see that the motto of the Mersey Railway can still apply to the present Northern Line of Merseyrail.

Motto of the Mersey Railway was; 'Shall Ride in Triumph over all Mischance.'
-Even if it is by bus!

From the Scouse dictionary:
"old'st railway on de earth" - Mersey Railway
(Bible: God created all things that creep)

The previous week guards were handing out service timetables on trains, which I couldn't make head or tail of, but as there were buses all over the place it didn't matter as anyone wanting to travel could just turn up at their usual station and wait no more than 15 minutes for one.

They always seem to be excellent on the operations side of things. Credit where it's due.
