Merseyrail Misadvertisement

Some members of the forum will be aware that the "free" bus that linked Chester station to Chester city center recently stopped being free. (21/11/11)

I was disappointed to find that Merseyrail still have route maps up at stations that still advertise the bus as free. Even though it's now been nearly a month since this was the case.

I understand that they can't instantly reprint the route maps, but surely they could at least blank off the bit about the bus.

I have also sent the question direct to Merseyrail, I await a response.

Well I've known about the change to the bus link since late September as that's when Cheshire West council put the changes up on their website.

None of the advertising I've seen (not just Merseyrail) recently, suggests that there has been any change to this service, let alone that a charge is now made of £1.00 single.

The only useful piece of information I've seen on the ground is at Chester station, attached to the bus stop itself. There is a notice there to explain the changes & the fact there is now a charge.

That is quite poor considering casual users who dont use enthusiast & transport sites might not have heard about the change & the change hasn't happened overnight as well, theTOCs have had time to change the info.

Merseyrail kept informing passengers, for quite a while after the ticket barriers were installed at Chester, that they needed to present a valid rail ticket to travel for free on the bus. ATW staff at the barriers were telling passengers to put their tickets in the barriers as they didn't need to show them on the bus anymore.

It will be interesting to see what their response will be. They may have a set period for poster amendments.
