507003 is allocated to the New Brighton diagram beginning with the 07.38 (2N06) today. It works the XX.38 circulars to the 18.38, then 19.53 and XX.53 services to 22.53, providing it sees out the day.

The Southport pair of 018 and 029 is out on its semi-usual diagram: the 06.03 and 08.03 Southport departures. The booked eight-car 777 working in front is short-formed according to Traksy so they will be much needed this morning.

I can confirm the 507s are on their now regular diagram with the next departure being 08:03 from Southport.

The one before is also short formed as suspected with 777018 having the honours.

018 and 007 expected to be stood down next week with 023 and 029 expected the week after. I am afraid the end really is near now :(

According to a post from a very reliable source on the MerseyRailways 2.0 Facebook group, some more scrap moves of the remaining class 507s are on there way in the coming weeks, with likely 507007 and 507018 being stood down around this time next week, followed by 507023 and 507029 the following week. This leaves, 507001 and 507003 to solider on until early December.

I just hope the last passenger service is publicised and they don't go out with a whimper after over 46 years of excellent service.

Sorry, 003 is by far the worst one left. I'd still take it over almost any other train, but it is a dog compared with the others.

MerseyRailways 2.0 FB page is reporting that 2 more 507's are being stood down next week, with 507007 and 507018 being tipped as the next sets to go.

Two more are apparently being stood down the following week which are likely to be 507023 and 507029.

It will leave just 507001 and 507003 to soldier on into early December.

I've heard that the 507s are to be withdrawn in December, but considering how the 777 fault situation is going, how likely is this to occur?

Never say never, but Merseytravel want rid of the 507s and are unlikely to fund any additional leasing costs. Add in the fact that the fleet is life-expired, spare parts are now difficult to obtain and an increasing number of train crew are no longer qualified on 507s, and it is not looking good.

The withdrawal dates quoted in posts 3634 and 3638 above came from someone who I am inclined to believe.

Thank you very much, I'm answering a comment right now so I wanted to make sure I didn't spread anything incorrect

Merseytravel (not to be confused with Merseyrail) would rather see no trains running than keep the 507s running for any longer

Well if common sense applied Merseytravel would've already bought all the remaining 507's off Angel Trains at scrap value and then they could continue to use them for as long as they want or need without having to worry about any additional leasing costs. Alas however this is not where we are and there is no will to continue to lease these units past December.
In case anyone is interested I found this on the tender website showing the costs to Merseytravel to remove the units for scrapping. Removal of Class 507/508 Trains from the Liverpool City Region for Disposal

Basically
Total value of the contract/lot: £554,655
Their where only two tender submissions .
Although this may of risen in two years now plus a number of scrap moves where cancelled at the last moment even though the tug arrived at the North End.

507018 and 029 are on the diagram running the 06.03 and 08.03 Southport departures once again. Potentially this is 018's last day in service so hopefully they emerge for the evening peak workings.

507003 is not in service at present and is in the wall siding at New Brighton. However, there may be potential for later as the 777 working 2C09 has gone bang in the Bache area and sent the Chester line spiralling into chaos.

The decision to get these units gone now is dangerous for Merseyrail and its becoming increasingly worrying what the future brings without them. Especially with 018 having its last day of service today.

I don’t think Merseyrail have woken up and realised they won’t have any spares, And the faults aren’t a thing of the past either. I reckon this whole company is going to nosedive within the next few months

It's not exactly Merseyrails fault in some ways - the 507s were supposed to be running Ormskirk-Hunts Cross 6 cars - booked, planned with crew that sign them, but it's politics that blocked this from happening. Adhoc work is a nightmare due to lack of crew that can work them for a full diagram.

I don’t think it is dangerous to be honest. They are currently running 1/2 diagrams a day and you can argue that the Southport one is probably for capacity reasons.

You can’t keep the old trains in case the new ones fail, just like you wouldn’t keep your old car when you get a new one.

I do agree although the powers that be have spoken and kyboshed the idea of keeping them. Good luck having no 507s to plug the many gaps: they'll need it.

Talking of which, 507003 is about to take the Chester line as another 777 has died.

Edit: There's a bit of chopping and changing after the failed 777. 507003 is doing 2C26 12.57 Rock Ferry - Liverpool - Chester and the 14.12 departure from there etc.

Just noticed VSTP 5T85 currently running from Southport to Kirkdale CS, any chance this is 018 moving to be withdrawn or just 777?

6 car just spotted on the destination boards at Waterloo (Southport line). Anyone able to confirm this?

Edit: 507018 and 507029 have appeared on the diagram

ECS move to Rock Ferry platform 3 of which I presume a 777 unit - potential swap of 507003 off the Chester line soon?
EDIT : it appears it's being used for a 777 swap off the Ellesmere Port line.
