Merseyrail "leaf fall" timetable

This year the timetable change was advertised as "the usual autumn timetable", although the first few times it happened it was definitely an Emergency Timetable.

Standing at Capenhurst because the 16:51 has been cancelled, it occurs to me that one of the compensations of previous year's timetables was that, with extended turn-around times at Chester, all trains that ran were timetabled to stop at Capenhurst - the timetable looses peak extras to have one more train in circulation, giving an extra 15 minutes to get back on time. This year the additional stops are not in the public timetable (or happening), RTT shows "service stop unadvertised", so the worst of both worlds applies.

Does anyone know if there is a reason for this?

Today cancellation also got quite confused.

This is on platform 2 for Liverpool!

On the plus side 2C44 has just stopped unscheduled so I am on my way home, although it never came on the departure board so they lost some passengers who got lifts.

They haven't all stopped at Capenhurst for the last couple of years in the autumn timetable, Merseytravel want to keep continuity with the normal stopping pattern.

As regards the picture the pis boards should really advertise Liverpool bound trains as Chester aswell due to the loop meaning the final destination is actually Chester!
However the software was amended to allow Liverpool bound trains to show as Liverpool on the screens to avoid confusion. If for whatever reason a train towards Liverpool is cancelled or turns short of the loop it isn't unknown for the system to panic and just show the final destination ie Chester.

It's a shame they don't run the 'leaf fall' timetable all year round on the Chester line, having 7 sets out with ~12 minute turnarounds at Chester rather than the more usual sub 5 minutes meaning trains get skip stopped more frequently.
