Merchant Navys the southerns most iconic image

aswell as the 'West Countrys' 'Battle-of-Britain' classes etc..
do you think the MN's are the southern region's most iconic image?
your opinions and thoughts please

Nope.
For me, it's either a Mk1-based EMU in blue & grey or the Art Deco stations of places like Surbiton

I would argue that they are, yes. Hauling a Southampton boat train, Bournemouth/Devon Belle, or possibly the 'ACE'...oh, to travel on that train...

Though perhaps a 'West Country' more than a 'Merchant Navy', as my image of the southern is the idyllic seaside branch line, with something like an 'M7' hauling local trains, and the occasional express from London to the seaside hauled by a light pacific.
