As far as I knew, after Mellor's owners went in to administration last year, the "Sigma" branded EV range was completely dropped, and this seems to be backed up by what was published online at the time.

However; completely by chance today I came across this post from Mistral showing that they have just supplied a brand new Sigma in St Ives:

There seems to be no indication on Mellor's website that this is a product they currently offer or anything like that.

Does anyone have any insight as to what is actually going on with these buses now? Are they still in production or is this a case of still selling on new old stock?

The chassis number on bus lists on the web is in the middle of ones delivered about 2 years ago.

The buses in service are supported by the original Chinese manufacturer - Wisdom Motor - although that company does not seem to have sold any more vehicles in the UK.

These are the relevant paragraphs:
Tay Cheong Lip, President at Wisdom Motor says: “Wisdom was proud to establish a partnership with Whippet for these vehicles, which have now been operating successfully in Cambridge for two years. Drivers are happy, and passengers like it!

“We believe that these buses confirmed yet again Wisdom’s strong commitment to each local market they operate in, rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach by offering advanced new-energy transport solutions.

“Establishment of a strong after-sales service support package will be our key focus from now to serve our customers. Congratulations to Whippet for this successful milestone!”

That’s a strange press release unless Wisdom are making moves to enter the British market again, why else would there be a quote from their representative, but don’t remember any mention of Wisdom when Whippet were launching the buses.

The European rights to sell the Wisdom vehicle range in Europe is now owned by German company HY-X International. At present they are just available to German customers, but there are plans to sell into other markets in the future.
