Melbourne Metro and Trams

Can anyone tell me how many of each type of metro stock there is in Melbourne and also which if any are in advertising livery

Also just to confirm 6001-6005 have entered service on the 96 and this has meant 5005/10/20 and a few other trams can transfer these trams are currently working the 70a and 5010 has a new aoa for a ten tv series. I noted a 3000 series tram on the 96 the other week very rare anything other than a 5 or 6 series works it. And then Wednesday two weeks ago there was a 96 tram on the 112 also

Do metro take metros out of service with faulty displays as I rode 944m i think it was before and it got took out of service at flinders and had no led screens on the front unit.

If you post these questions in the Melbourne Suburban sub-forum, any number of local enthusiasts should be able to give you definitive answers. One important thing is,

6000 to 6006 are all trams, and are owned by 'Yarra Trams'

Melbourne Metro are only for suburban trains.

These are two separate companies

sorry, that should have been 6001 to 6006.

These are Bombardier Flexity Swifts of which are currently on order for the Yarra Trams tram network.

All Connex branding has been removed ages ago.

The new operator has retained the blue, but is otherwise different.

Connex originally chose the blue and yellow because of the heritage significance it has with the Victorian Railways of 1930s to 1970s. For that reason, Metro has also chosen to go on with the same blue.

The name Connex has been removed from all of the trains.

Not true a few sets still retain elements of connex branding mainly on the middle carriage. Also saw some new trams testing on the gold coast on monday they looked quite long....

Been reported on 7 news today a gold coast tram had a crash today with a car

In terms of fleet sizes:

Hitachi:
7 six car units.
Comeng:
185 3 car units. 305M-1003T-306M all but written off.
Siemens:
72 3 car units.
X'trapolis:
58 original 3 car units
90 extra 3 car units.

The Connex branding is all but gone now. New PTV branding is being applied.

Rode my first 6000 series tram today it was 6005 it was clean bright and fast but had awful cramped interior I prefer the interior on the 5000 series trams as they have more wheelchair room and resemble Manchesters trams in a interior way..

They might fell cramped but overall the E class(6000 class) is a massive improvement overall on the D2. Particularly in ride comfort. The centre bogey of the D2s have a tendency to lock up resulting in flats and quite a noise results. They seem move side to side quite badly on the light rail as well.

5001 is in the new livery and this along with 5002 now work the 19 service quite often 5002 remains in old livery. I still prefer the 5000 series trams apart from the bumblebee ones if you sit in the rear portion of them its a rocky ride...

The D2s are being slowly cascaded onto the 19 as the E class come into service. Which then bumps the B2 trams elsewhere to allow the retirement of the Z1 and Z2 class trams.
