Fares are often loaded on to the Megabus booking system one day at a time but yesterday they added more than three months worth of UK-only bus journeys in one go which AFAIK has never been done before.

It means there is currently at least one £1 ticket available on almost every service from mid June to early October. I got the 11 return journeys I needed for £22 plus a single 50p booking fee. :D

They have also added a load of £3 tickets on services, where previously the next tier up from £1 was £9 - so even if someone has snapped up that first £1 ticket there are still plenty of £3 fares to go around!

I don't that was true on most services, I've had a lot of £5 journeys.

Certainly there were £5 fares on many services, however the £3 fares are part of a new promotion and seem to be everywhere:

There’s never been a better time to book. That’s because we’ve added 1 million £3 fares* on journeys around the UK this summer.

All you need to do is book at least 4 weeks in advance to find these great fares. So whether you fancy a change of scenery for the weekend, are travelling to and from uni or are off visiting friends or family, search now to get your hands on them.

And with 42 destinations across the UK, you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to go. Here’s just a few of the places you can travel to with us: -
London
Manchester
Liverpool
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Cardiff
Newquay
Plymouth
Newcastle
Bristol
Sheffield
Leeds
So what are you waiting for? Get searching, grab that £3 ticket and go!

*Subject to availability and a 50p booking fee.

Note that this offer only applies to Megabus journeys within the UK, but excluding journeys with start and end destinations within Scotland. Only available on bookings made at least 4 weeks in advance of travel. Fares are subject to availability and are not applicable for Stagecoach operated services including Oxford Tube, Scottish citylink, megabusGold Day Service, megabusGold Sleeper, megabusplus and megatrain.

They have added about three months worth of journeys/booking dates a fair number of times before over the past few years or so. Sometimes they do that, and sometimes they're just added one day at a time. I've been lucky to get a number of £1 single fares between Bristol or London and Amsterdam, Brussels, and Cologne since 2012.

...and does that mean there won't be any network changes for a while?

Why did the overnight M12/M19 get chopped at Manchester? It always seemed like there was quite a bit of cross-Manchester travel on it and from what I saw on Friday evening (when I took the 0100 to Swansea) it is still run with a Scottish interdeck vehicle (54204 on Friday).

And once again Hull gets screwed over for reduced prices...

For me to take advantage of this offer I would have to spend a bit to get to Leeds

Don't quite understand the problem. Hull seems to me to do well from Megabus.

London St Pancras to Hull currently available for £1 on Tues 2 June on the 09.15 and 12.15 Megabus Plus (rail+bus) departures. Hull to St Pancras same date same price at 06.45 and 17.15. It is possible to make a day trip in either direction for £2.50 return if you're the first to book with up to four and a half hours in Hull or almost ten hours in London Once the single £1 ticket is sold the fare usually increases to a still reasonable £8.

Leeds to Hull is available three journeys a day by bus in each direction and there are still £1 seats for this week, with at least four initially available @ £1. Journeys from Wed 3 June onwards have not yet been loaded on these routes.

How is that "Hull gets screwed over" ?

Because weekend travel is quite a bit more and people from Hull can't take advantage of this offer

There are megabus fares from Hull to Leeds and Hull to London 7 days a week. You can now book to/from Leeds and to/from London on Saturday 4 June for £1 per journey. Sunday 5 June should become available on Thursday morning and so on.

Most rail travel routes on megabus have no Sunday availability at all so I still maintain Hull gets a very good deal.
