Just a quick query.

Do you know if the M12 to London has power sockets?

Probably academic, as getting on at Leeds I'm unlikely to get a window seat.

I can't comment on the availability of power sockets, but you shouldn't feel restricted by not being at the window, although if they located the sockets between seats that would be better. The main issue is whether or not they are working.

There were power sockets. I couldn't get it to work. There were instructions for it - at shin level.

Sometimes the driver needs to switch on the power.

I've had a few where the inverter has tripped and hence the sockets don't work and the system can't be reset on the move - I've now bought a USB battery for trips and other things where I won't have power access

Fortunately I had (as I usually do) a spare battery for my phone. Would have been nice not to have had to use it though.

I think it is unusual to get the person by the windows to cooperate with having a wire over or behind their legs and that is if they aren't using the socket themselves.

The 59-reg Panthers don't have sockets. The more recent Interdecks and Double deck coaches do. Can the USB socket be used independently of the 3-pin socket? I've never crouched down to have a look at the fitting in detail and, as noted, it doesn't always work.

Speaking of other things not working, why are coach drivers so reluctant to have the air vents switched on? If you got on a plane and found no forced air on, you wouldn't be best pleased but coach drivers almost never have the vents on. Given passengers have control over their individual vent, it should be up to passengers, not the driver.

On a recent Megabus journey the driver announced after about an hour that he had just realised the sockets were not turned on, apologised and said they were now OK.

I had this issue on the iDBus service from London to Paris recently. For most seats the power socket is between the seats in front but for the front seats it is at the window. I was sat next to the window at the front and had no problem sharing the power socket with my neighbour.
