Can I ask if the uncorrected vision part was in both eyes together or each eye separately? Been a while since I did my pts medical, not sure if it's the same for driving

How does the hearing test work? Maybe I'm being incredibly thick but they play high pitched sounds? So am I right in thinking that if you have bad hearing the higher it is the less you can hear it or you can't hear it at all?

When they play the sounds are you stating if you hear something?

You are put into a soundproof booth and have a set of headphones. Sounds from 100hz to 20khz are played through the headphones and if you hear anything you push a button. You do not need a spectrum from 100hz to 20khz though I am not certain but I think it is from 500hz to 16khz.

I wonder if anyone could answer my question... I take medication to control my blood pressure and would like to know if this is an instant no-no in a position such as train driver or if common sense would be applied. By that I mean my BP is normally slightly raised and I take a very small dosage of the prescribed medicine to bring it down a little. In every other way I am very healthy - never smoked, hardly drink, low cholestorol, correct weight and run regularly up to 13 miles.

Noticed people on here and others mention that some people have started jobs without passing a complete medical and having to do the medical at someone within three months of training, is that standard or depending on the situation?

anyone know if GA do this?

I am sure someone else who has been in a similar situation will be able to answer your question in a bit more detail but as far as I am aware this should not be a major issue.

The best advice I can give on to be totally honest and upfront about any medication you are taking and you should be OK!

I take no medication but when I had my medical she said my BP was a little high and my BMI was a bit high also but that I was fine for the role of Train Gaurd/Conductor.

This is quite common in some cases, I am a new starter with Northern and my job offer stated that I had to have a satisfactory medical within one month of my start date.

As it happened I went for my medical about 10 days before I actually started training but I have read of other instances where by people have actually started training before they had a medical!

I drive trains and take Three different types of medication for BP and passed the new European medical.A good reading for me is 135/85 so you should be ok.

Ah thanks, just what I wanted to hear. I haven't even started any kind of
application for a position but this was the first hurdle I wanted to clear. My readings are similar to yours with very little medication.
