Please may I ask for some opinions please.
My dad was admitted to hospital as he fainted. He then started to walk again but fell while in the hospital causing a fractured finger and undiagnosed haematoma to his leg.
After a few weeks he started to walk again, but the haematoma had led to lower red blood cell counts so he was transferred to another hospital.
One doctor has said that he will make a recovery within 4 to 6 weeks with the right physio in place. The physio said today she is also due to start some work with him to ensure he is confident walking.
However a second doctor has said that his condition is deteriorating and they are looking to withdraw his dialysis which will lead to palleative care so I am really worried now.
I feel that the second doctor sounded like a sales person but I don't know if / how to challenge this as I think he should be allowed the 4 to 6 weeks recovery time but I worry that the worst decision will be made.

I wouldn't begin to attempt to answer your question, merely to comment on the phrase ''with the right physio in place.'' I don't know which country your father lives in, or which area of that country, but can only tell you of the experiences of both myself and my late wife in England trying to obtain physiotherapy on the NHS , even in a hospital setting. This is because of a dire shortage of physios, exacerbated first by measures introduced in response to the Brexit vote, then by the pandemic. I owe my own continuation of living a reasonably independent existence to the presence of a physio who saw me in hospital when I'd been several days there following something similar to what happened to your father. This coincided with the first ever Junior Doctor strikes, where I was left to fester in a ward mostly full of the demented. The physio could see I was desperate to get back home and got someone to overrule a decision where I was to be first transferred to another hospital, probably never to see home again. This was all a little over a year ago, and despite the odd problem I'm confident of carrying on as I am for the foreseeable future, even if that is only measured in months or even weeks for me now. By the way, I've been on a waiting list for seeing a physio as an outpatient for the exact five years today since I was diagnosed with MS!
