Hi all,

I’ve searched and searched key words but couldn’t find anything so thought I’d post a new thread.

I’m applying for the Tyne and Wear metro.

In 2012 I fainted in the shower and attended hospital, they put me on an ecg and did the relevant tests but everything was clear, I explained to the hospital I hadn’t ate after exercising then had the shower. The hospital put it down to the shower being too hot and possibly blood sugar levels. They also didn’t mentioned about telling the DVLA and I’ve been driving for a living ever since.

I’ve never had an incident before or after this one off. Obviously I would declare it if I was successful and got to the medical stage. Just wondering what the chances of being turned away for this?

The law and train driver medical standards for rail operators says a driver must not be suffering from loss of consciousness but I’m not suffering from it, it’s certainly not an on going medical condition that needs treatment.

Thanks

I Wouldn't worry about it, anyone can faint even without having a medical condition. You can faint because your blood sugar is low or from heat so you wouldn't need to mention it.

Thanks Saxon79, so it could be similar to people who faint from the sight of blood etc?

Yes. You can faint if you stand up quickly, something that simple. I would only be concerned if it was something of a regular occurrence.

I wouldn’t worry. I wouldn’t even declare it if it was a one off and some time ago.

Thanks for the reassurance, I was worrying quite a bit over it. Apart from a little bit of dad bod I’m pretty fit and healthy
