Hi all

Recently completed stage 1 and the computerised parts of the stage 2 driver assessments (just awaiting mmi results)

I've been wondering about the outcome of my medical (if I get to that stage ) because I've had a couple of blips in the past where I have been prescribed various antidepressant medications, the overlying situation that I was in that made me resort to medication has now passed and I am no longer on any medication and feeling great.

I just hope when they are looking back on my records that they don't get a bad impression.

I would hate to fall at the last hurdle because I needed a bit of help in the past to get me through a horrible personal situation.

You may be expected to declare that you've had these issues in the past but if as you say the situation has passed and you are not on any drugs for it then you'll be fine. You might find the examining nurse or doctor might ask a few questions to convince themselves but they won't go digging. I had to declare a rather rare childhood autoimmune disease and got exactly that, a few questions just to confirm it is all gone. What they don't do is go through your actual medical records.

When it comes to the railway medical they are only really bothered how you are now and may be in the future, not "cured" historical things.

Thanks for the reply, very reassuring, even more so since I received the call earlier confirming I've passed my MMI, just need to wait for a date for the DMI now.

I had my medical yesterday and they will ask if you've ever experienced any psychological problems before (possibly just in the past 2 years, I can't remember).

I think it's probably more to do with the drug test, if anti-depressants showed positive and you hadn't declared it then you would probably fail. Just remember that the medical examiners don't want to fail you, even if like me the nerves got the better of you causing a high blood pressure reading!
