Is Media:City still served by Piccadilly-Eccles trams or does it have it's own service now?

Yes, in the (was the old term super offpeak?) period when theres evening lower frequency or in the first couple of hours in the extreme morning the normal Eccles service goes via Mediacity.

I seem to recall 2013 being mentioned for a start date, following on from consultations and permissions etc being granted . Can't recall what the construction time table was.

2CC is to be completed 2016 to coincide with Airport line opening, budgets around £80m from borrowing against revenues and would the track itself, Exchange station, extra platforms at Victoria and moving and expanding St Peters.

I am pleased that you have mentioned Exchange station here, as the plans for the large office block development seem known to Network Rail. Is there protected status for any west-facing platforms to be built?

With light rail, there have been queries about the line of the final track section at Shadow Moss station to the terminal Metrolink station at Manchester Airport Interchange. Will there be road running down Ringway Road or parallel running as shown in the drawings on Simonsway? A forum member assumes the line as defined would impinge upon HS2 line projection to Manchester Airport, but as far as I know, there are no preliminary plans for the "Y" routes northwards from Birmingham to Manchester and to Leeds.

Could you kindly comment upon the above matters.

What people are refering to with the conflict with HS2 is that theres a large plot of land just north of the Airport across the road thats currently overflow parking, the Manchester Enterprize Zone would use this land as an office development called Airport City linked to the current Airport Station by a skyway. Some people however suggest it would have been an ideal spot for the Airports HS2 platforms instead.

Thank you for the Metrolink line query answer about the line route. Whilst the TfGM Metrolink website gives coloured provisional station area plans, is there anywhere where full sized plans may be sourced for the actual route through Wythenshawe to Manchester Airport?

Do you know if the plans for the proposed Enterprise Zone definitely show this land as being included for the proposed development or is this just a preliminary preamble?

Piccadilly-Media:City* every 12 minutes
Piccadilly-Eccles every 12 minutes
Victoria-St Werburgh's Road every 12 minutes
Bury-Altrincham every 12 minutes
Piccadilly-Altrincham every 12 minutes

* This actually shows as Cornbrook-Media:City on the Metrolink site.

I personally don't think the idea of the Media:City service being a Cornbrook turnback. It's set to be a major area of employment from next year and as most trains go to Piccadilly and Victoria it'll mean a lot of people will need to change twice to get there.

The Piccadilly - Bury services go via Market Street and Victoria rather than on the section between Cornbrook and St Peter's Square.

The fact that Manchester Piccadilly has a direct Metrolimk route to Media City UK is a good tourist aid to visitors to the Imperial War Museum (North), the Lowry Centre and the Lowry Shopping Mall for both local visitors and for those travelling into Manchester by rail who wish to visit these places. My wife and I met a party of people from Huddersfield who had made the rail and Metrolink journey to there yesterday.

Can't remember whether it was here or on another forum that I've suggested "Eccles -Cornbrook" and "Media City- Piccadilly" as a better pattern.

I think thats a good shout, since Eccles already has a (much faster) train service into central Manchester (whilst Media City will have obvious demand from those needing a direct service back to Piccadilly, so that they can jump on the first train back to London)
