Hello, some great info on here. I've got my assessment day on Monday for northern rail, looking for any tips on where to find practice material for the mechanical part, any ideas from anyone? Thanks in advance.

Hi Northern Star.

You're not at the Macdonald Hotel, Manchester are you next Monday? I've been invited to assessment there today? Which depot you applied for?

As for the Mechanical part of the test, I'm sure plenty of people here will advise better than I could but I've just recently got my hands on the Barrons book 'Mechanical Aptitude and Spatial Relations Test'. Not actually managed to read too much of it yet but I'm planning on doing so this week.

Well done on getting through to the assessments. Can I ask which depot you applied for? I attended the interview for Piccadilly last week and have not heard back yet, so I suspect if you also applied at Manchester then my thanks but no thanks is in the pipeline, judging by the length of time it took to get the emails out for the people who did not get interviews it looks like they get the good news out first, but are a bit slower with the nos. Good luck for the assessments.

I had my interview at Victoria last week and am still waiting to hear if I succeeded, I was told the last interviews were to be held today, so fingers crossed for us.

In the meantime I'm Bopping it, dot testing, reading Physics, and doing everything else people recommend just in case I get through to the assessment stage.

Thanks for that, there still remains some slight hope then, although if NorthernStar was interviewed at Piccadilly I could be done for.

Such has been my confidence in making a balls of the interview I've not been able to face any of the tests, haha. I would be quite happy to be proved wrong though.

I just passed my conductor assessment... thinking with the drivers how hard it must be to have the interview to look forward to after all the assessments are done!! walk in the fresh air if necessary inbetween I guess!
