Is the one at Carlisle still there? The ones at Perth and Haslemere were only removed relatively recently.

Granted not Network Rail, but there are still two (electro-)mechanical banner repeaters on the Metropolitan line approaching Rickmansworth on the southbound. These are unique on LUL, their raison d'être being for mainline trains.

Is that mechanical, or electro-mechanical?
Electro-mechanical, dating from the 1962 Perth resignalling. On a semi-related note, the one at Fort Matilda was banjoed by the contractors during the Newton Street Tunnel repairs (1994 or thereabouts). Even back then, there wasn’t a direct replacement available so they ended up on the hook for the design work to convert it to fibre optic.

I don't know if it still exists, but didn't there used to be one on the approach to Macclesfield?
