Sorry, another of those 'what is this odd working' questions! (But not an RHTT! 
)
The train in question ran late Sunday night (01/09) and the early hours of Monday morning. I'm assuming it was a Measurement Train working of some description, although I don't know if it was the 'Flying Banana' or Top-n-tailed Class 37. I'm more intrigued about the route:
Carnforth - Preston - Burnley - Colne - Burnley - Colne - Burnley - Blackburn - Bolton - Blackburn - Bolton - Blackburn - Preston. (RTT link: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U93517/2013/09/01/advanced
Having suffered this thing going past no less than four times in a couple of hours, I can't help wonder: why? Why would it need to traverse the single track sections between Gannow Jn and Colne, and Blackburn and Bolton, four times?
I appreciate that the infrastructure has to be checked regularly; it's just the traversing single track sections four times that has piqued my curiosity!
(Personally I don't mind, but since it's only three weeks since the same thing happened, the Mem is getting a bit peaved! And unfortunately it's made worse by the fact that the timings are such that there is just long enough between each passing to get back to sleep again before being rudely awoken!)

Ha - wonder if it registered that tolerances in this household at least vary quite a a lot! It could at least have come through during daylight so I could see it! Most exotic thing I ever see is a 156!
