Came across this last night- a train that could launch a nuclear armed ICBM

according to the caption, in service until 2006.

One of the most interesting exhibits at the Musuem of Railway Technology is the mobile Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) launcher (unit 16P961), which carried 10 nuclear warheads. Amazingly this consist saw service until 2006. Here it is seen on 17th February 2013.

I have been reading about these I will post some links when I am on my PC there was also a train used in the Kosovo crisis that looked like something from mad max

They were considering it (see here) but the end of the Cold War brought an end to the program. It looks like it never got much further than testing rather than being a fully deployed weapon system like the Soviet/Russian version.
