MB2 Fitter SWR

Hello

I was looking at applying for the MB2 fitter job at Wimbledon Depot but had a few questions that i cannot seem to get any answers for online and was wondering if anyone could help?

Is this a job for someone with no rail engineering experience?
Do the shifts cover days and nights?
What would the rough salary be?
Is there any basic entry requirements (minimum electrical/mechanical experience)

In order;

1. Yes. As long as you have other mechanical/electrical etc experience and NVWs or similar, you should be able to transfer these skills.

2. Yes generally.

3. About £30k I think for an MB2 inclusive of London allowance.

All this info should be on the advert in the FirstGroup careers portal. Sometimes it’s in the blue/purple box, but it’s definitely all there as long as you look the job up on their site and not another recruitment site.

I have a background in PSV, so my core skills might transfer over to rolling stock

A little on the low side in terms of salary. Is there a clear and achievable progression and training which could lead to higher salary

In order;

I’m not an expert in this role, but there certainly is progression on to MB3 and supervisory roles. MB2 is only semi-skilled remember. Once you move on to MB3 I believe the salary is around £40k (up to £45k as a supervisor I think I’ve seen?)? Plus overtime and enhancements I’d imagine. Even as an MB2 I reckon £40k is achieveable with allowances and overtime.
