The 5th August Dorset Coast Express was due to be headed by Tangmere. Tangmere acted the goat in the West Country on Sunday, and sat down on the Hemerdon Bank. Rumour mill says Its now cocked with what might be reverser issues or a problem with one of the cylinder crossheads. At the very last moment (less than 48 hours) the Mayflower crew performed wonders to get the stand in loco fired up and ready in less than 48 hours Big Well done to them. - I had heard through the grapevine that Tangmere was a no show, so went back to the same scene, same tour, different engine, different day.

A bit of fun, Two engines, same place, same load, a week apart. Tangmere should win this easily with its higher power output, and indeed that is the case. managed to mix the track so we have the right engine beatr on the correct visual aspect so its fun to hear the difference in cylinder strokes.

LNER thompson B1 class on the UP fast at Weybridge in Surrey, returning the Dorset Coast Express to Waterloo. How much work is being done by a Steam Loco that appears to be dumping its unused excess steam, or the class 37 roaring away on the back I'll leave for you to work out.
